Properties

Properties are used to characterise variations, storage locations and contacts. For example, you can use properties to:

  • highlight a variation’s technical features such as Bluetooth or WLAN

  • specify which storage locations are appropriate for items requiring refrigeration

  • record how customers want to be contacted by you (by email, phone or mail)

Properties are centrally managed in the Setup » Settings » Properties » Configuration menu. You can also group multiple properties and create property groups.

Then you link the properties of the corresponding area with variations, storage locations and contacts:

1. Creating a property

Properties are created in the Setup » Settings » Properties » Configuration menu. These properties are then used to characterise variations, storage locations and contacts.

Proceed as described below to create a property.

Creating a property:

  1. Go to Setup » Settings » Properties » Configuration.
    → The overview of the properties opens.

  2. Click on Add property ().

  3. Select from the drop-down list Area the area that you want to create the property for.

  4. Carry out the additional settings. Note the explanations in Table 1.

  5. Save () the settings.
    → The property is created and opened for editing.

Setting Explanation

Area

Select an area from the drop-down list where the property should be used.
Item = Property is used for items.
Storage location = Property is used for storage locations.
Contact = Property is used for contacts.

Property type

Select the property type from the drop-down list.
None = Select this option if properties are to be used in areas other than Item, Storage location and Contact, e.g. for the faceted search.
Whole number = Enter an integer.
2,147,483,647 digits are permitted.
Decimal number = Enter a number with decimal places. 8 places before and 4 places after the decimal point are permitted.
Selection = This option allows to enter values and then select one of these values from a drop-down list.
Multi-selection = This option allows to enter values and select one or multiple options.
Short text = Enter a short text. You can enter a text without formatting with up to 65,535 characters.
Long text = Enter a text. You can enter a text with formatting with up to 65,535 characters.
Date = Select this option to allow to enter a date or to select the date from a calendar.
File = Select this option to allow to upload a file.
Note: Only the property types None and Selection are available for the Storage location area.

Name

Enter the name for the property.
Note: The name of the system language is displayed by default. After the property has been created, you can save the name in further languages.

Description

Enter the description of the property.
Note: The description of the system language is displayed by default. After the property has been created, you can save the description in further languages.

Group

Select a property group from the drop-down list to assign the property to this group. This is optional.
Tip: Click on Add property group () on the right side of the line to create a group.
For further information about property groups, refer to the Grouping properties chapter.

Position

Enter the position number for the property. Properties are sorted by the position number in ascending order.
Tip: Count by tens when creating position numbers. This allows you to easily add new properties in between.

After the property of the corresponding area has been created, you have to link it.

3. Searching for a property

You can manage properties centrally in the Setup » Settings » Properties » Configuration menu. After opening the menu, start the search to display the properties. In order to search for specific properties, enter a search term in the search fields. The drop-down lists help you search for properties that share specific criteria. You can combine as many search filters as you like.

Searching for a property:

  1. Go to Setup » Settings » Properties » Configuration.

  2. In the Filter view, enter the search term in the search field or set the filter options in the drop-down lists. Note the explanations in Table 2.

  3. Click on Search ().
    → The properties that correspond to the search criteria entered are displayed.

  4. Click in the line of the property.
    → The detail view of the property opens.

Setting Explanation

Search

Click on Search () without selecting any filter settings to display all properties.
Or: Limit the search results by using filters and click on Search ().
→ The properties found are listed in the overview.

Reset

Click on to reset the filter criteria set.

ID

Each property automatically receives a consecutive and unique ID.

Name

Enter the name to search for the property with this name. It is also possible to search only for parts of the name.

Language

Select a language to only display properties for which a name has been saved in this language.

Group

Select the group to only display properties that are assigned to this group.
Select Not grouped to only display properties that are not assigned to a group.
Select Grouped to only display properties that are assigned to a group.

Area

Select an area to only display properties that are used in this area.

Property type

Select a property type to only display properties of this type.

4. Editing a property

The Setup » Settings » Properties » Configuration menu contains all properties that you have created so far. Change the settings that are described in Table 1 in this menu.

Editing a property:

  1. Go to Setup » Settings » Properties » Configuration.

  2. Click on Search () to display all properties or select filters to limit the search results.

  3. Click on the property that you want to edit.
    → The General tab opens.

  4. Edit the settings. Note the explanations in Table 3.

  5. Save () the settings.

Tab General > Area Details

Position

Enter the new position to change the order of the properties.

Tab General > Area Options

Units

Select the unit from the drop-down list.
Note: This option is only available for the Item area.

Order property

Activate this option to make sure that the property is displayed in the order process.
Note: This option is only available for the Item area.

Display as additional costs

Activate to show the surcharge as additional costs.
Note: This option is only available for the Item area.

Mandatory field

Activate this option to make sure that the property is a mandatory input. Mandatory fields are displayed in bold in the detail view of the contact in the Properties area and in the order process in the online store.
Note: This option is only available for the Item area.

Order process

Activate this option to make sure that the property is displayed in the order process in the online store.
Note: This option is only available for the Contact area.

Customer registration

Activate this option to make sure that the property is displayed in the customer registration in the online store.
Note: This option is only available for the Contact area.

Contact search

This option is currently without function. Later, it should be possible to filter for properties in the CRM » Contacts menu.
Note: This option is only available for the Contact area.

Tab General > Area Name

Language

Select the language from the drop-down list.

Name;
Description

For multilingualism, enter name and description for other languages.

Tab General > Area Group

Group

Activate the option to assign one or multiple groups to the property.

Tab Visibility

Referrer

Select one, multiple or all referrers to activate the property for this referrer.

Client

Select one ore multiple clients to activate the property for this client.

Display everywhere

Select where the property is to be displayed.

Tab Values

Only visible for the property types Selection and Multi-selection

Enter the values that are to be displayed for your customers in the drop-down list.
Click on Add () to create a value.
Name = Enter a name for the property value.

Tab Amazon

Add correlation

Properties can be linked with an Amazon platform, an Amazon category and an Amazon field. To do so, it is necessary to activate an Amazon referrer in the Visibility tab.

5. Deleting a property

You can delete one or more properties at the same time.

5.1. Deleting one property

Proceed as described below to irreversibly delete a property if it is no longer needed.

Deleting one property:

  1. Go to Setup » Settings » Properties » Configuration.

  2. Click on Search () to display all properties or select filters to limit the search results.

  3. Click on the property that you want to delete.
    → The property opens.

  4. Click on Delete property ().
    → A window appears and you need to confirm your decision.

  5. Click on Delete.
    → The property is deleted and removed from the overview.

5.2. Deleting multiple properties

Proceed as described below to irreversibly delete multiple properties if they are no longer needed.

Deleting multiple properties:

  1. Go to Setup » Settings » Properties » Configuration.

  2. Click on Search () to display all properties or select filters to limit the search results.

  3. Activate the properties that you want to delete.

  4. Click on Delete ().
    → A window appears and you need to confirm your decision.

  5. Click on Delete.
    → The selected properties are deleted and removed from the overview.

6. Grouping properties

Create property groups to summarise multiple properties. Proceed as described below to create a property group.

Creating a property group:

  1. Go to Setup » Settings » Properties » Groups.

  2. Click on Add property group ().

  3. Carry out the settings. Note the explanations in Table 4.

  4. Save () the settings.
    → The property group is created.

Setting Explanation

Name

Enter the name for the property group.
Note: The name of the system language is displayed by default. After the property group has been created, you can save the name in further languages.

Description

Enter the description for the property group.
Note: The description of the system language is displayed by default. After the property group has been created, you can save the description in further languages.

Position

Enter the position number for the property group. Properties are sorted by the position number in ascending order.
Tip: Count by tens when creating position numbers. This allows you to easily add new property groups in between.

Group type

Select the group type from the drop-down list.
None = Properties are not grouped by default.
Select = One of the grouped properties can be selected from the drop-down list.
Multiselect = Multiple properties can be selected.

Surcharge type

Select the type of surcharge from the drop-down list.
Flat = The surcharge is entered as flat amount.
Percent = The surcharge is entered as percentage.

6.1. Assigning a property to a group

Proceed as described below to assign one or more properties to a property group.

Assigning properties to a group:

  1. Go to Setup » Settings » Properties » Configuration.

  2. Click on Search () to display all properties or select filters to limit the search results.

  3. Activate the properties that you want to assign to the group.

  4. Click on Assign property group ().
    → A drop-down list of the available property groups appears.

  5. Select the property group from the drop-down list.

  6. Click on Group function ().
    → The list is reloaded and the selected properties are assigned to the property group.

6.2. Adding multiple languages to a property group

You can add multiple languages to property groups.

Adding multiple languages to a property group:

  1. Go to Setup » Settings » Properties » Groups.
    → The overview opens.

  2. Select a property group.
    → The overview opens and all available languages are displayed.

  3. Select a language.

  4. Enter the name in the selected language.

  5. Enter the description for the language.

  6. Save () the settings.
    → The language is added to the property group.

7. Deleting property groups

You can delete one or more property groups at the same time. Properties that are assigned to groups remain unaffected when deleting property groups.

7.1. Deleting one property group

Proceed as described below to irreversibly delete a property group if it is no longer needed.

Deleting one property group:

  1. Go to Setup » Settings » Properties » Groups.

  2. Click on Search () to display all properties or select filters to limit the search results.

  3. Click on the property group that you want to delete.
    → The detail view of the property group opens.

  4. Click on Delete group ().
    → A window appears and you need to confirm your decision.

  5. Click on Delete.
    → The property group is deleted and removed from the overview.
    Note: When you delete a property group, the properties that are assigned to the group are not deleted.

7.2. Deleting multiple property groups

Proceed as described below to irreversibly delete multiple property groups if they are no longer needed.

Deleting multiple property groups:

  1. Go to Setup » Settings » Properties » Groups.

  2. Click on Search () to display all properties or select filters to limit the search results.

  3. Activate the property groups that you want to delete.

  4. Click on Delete ().
    → A window appears and you need to confirm your decision.

  5. Click on Delete.
    → The selected property groups are deleted and removed from the overview.
    Note: When you delete a property group, the properties that are assigned to the group are not deleted.

8. Importing properties

Use the ElasticSync and the sync type Properties to import properties into your plentymarkets system. The fields that you can use for mapping and matching are described on the page of the manual of the sync type Properties.

9. Exporting properties

Use the FormatDesigner and the format type property to export properties. For further information, refer to the page of the manual of the format type Properties.
