Exporting data

There are many reasons to export data from your plentymarkets system. For example, you might want to:

  • transmit your item and variation data to marketplaces.

  • export a CSV file containing product data, warehouse data, order data etc. Afterwards, you can revise the file and import it again.

This page introduces the various tools for doing so. Click on the links to read more comprehensive information about the tools.

1. Elastic Export

The elastic export is a free plugin, which you can download from plentyMarketplace and add to your system.

How you proceed depends on what you want to achieve:

  1. Download the necessary plugins:

    1. Elastic Export

    2. So-called data format plugins for your chosen marketplaces.

  2. Configure the elastic export. While doing so, choose the data format for the corresponding marketplace.

  3. Transmit the CSV file to the marketplace.

  1. Download the necessary plugins:

    1. Elastic Export

    2. FormatDesigner

  2. Create so-called data formats with help from the FormatDesigner.

  3. Configure the elastic export. While doing so, choose the data format that you just created.

  4. Export the CSV file, modify it and re-import it into plentymarkets.

Advantages and disadvantages of the elastic export

  • Advantage: Can be used with many different marketplaces.

  • Disadvantage: Older technology, which is gradually being replaced by the catalogue.

2. Catalogue

Catalogues are used to ideally prepare data for the export. This tool is still relatively new in plentymarkets. Additional functions are being added all the time. Currently, you can use the catalogue to transfer data to the markets Amazon, REWE, Etsy, Metro and OTTO Market. There’s also a demo function, which you can use to export item data, modify it and then re-import it.

How you proceed depends on what you want to achieve:

  1. Create a catalogue. While doing so, choose the marketplace format as the export type.

  2. Match your plentymarkets data fields to the market’s data fields.

  3. Decide when and how your data should be transmitted and activate the catalogue.

  1. Create a catalogue. While doing so, choose the standard format as the export type.

  2. Decide which plentymarkets data fields the CSV file should include.

  3. Export the CSV file, modify it and re-import it into plentymarkets.

Advantages and disadvantages of the catalogue

Advantages:

  • Predefined data structure: The marketplace specifies which product data it needs. You simply match your plentymarkets data fields with the expected data.

  • Alternate data fields: You decide which data field should be used as a replacement if a certain field is not available in plentymarkets.

  • Combine data fields: You can combine data fields and decide which separator should be used between them. For example: Name 1 + Name 2.

Disadvantages:

  • Not yet compatible with all marketplaces.

  • Currently only includes a demo standard format. In the long-run, the catalogue is intended to replace the elastic export. But first, all of the standard formats and export filters need to be implemented in the catalogue.
